Up to some years ago, most of solid phase extraction methods (SPE) for purification, extraction and concentration of pollutants from environmental watery matrices, used phases C8 and C18 coated on a silica support. However, these kinds of adsorbents have shown poor efficiency of extraction for polar pesticides in water even lower than that of technique of liquid/liquid extraction.
Since eighties some researchers of University “La Sapienza” of Rome led by Prof. A. Di Corcia have started studies and research using Carbograph (earlier only Carbograph 1 and then also Carbograph 4), for solid phase extraction of phenols, chloroanilines and organochlorine pesticides. These products proved an efficiency greater than that of C18 cartridges.
For this reason, the use of cartridges filled with Carbograph 1 and Carbograph 4 and the applications which use it for its superior characteristics of adsorbtion, have increased substantially in the last few years.
Carbograph SPE | Mesh size | Applications for adsorbtion extraction of polar and non polar compounds |
Carbograph 1 | 120/400 | Carbamates, Triazine, Phenols, Herbicides, Chloroanilines, Organochlorine Pesticides |
Carbograph 4 | 120/400 | Carbamates, Triazine, Phenols, Herbicides, Chloroanilines, Organochlorine Pesticides |
